1954 Nash Metropolitan Coupe Modified YelBlk NS 0608246907
I wonder if the Austin workers would recognize this car! :D I usually don't video highly modified cars, but this was too "cute" to pass up! Small cars often had big engines dropped in, like the American Austin, the Henry J, the Crosley, and whatever else had some room in the engine compartment. For more info on the history of the Metropolitan, here's a great summary:www.hemmings.com/stories/car-culture/classics/the-demise-of-the-metropolitan

Really nice car...and it carries an important message, "Move Over". It's important that traffic move as smoothly as possible, and when drivers monopolize the left lane, not allowing faster traffic to pass, it creates a situation that breeds road rage. In addition, drivers need to pay attention to vehicles on the side of the road, and give them extra margins to stay safe. "Copyright Disclaimer U...

Facel Vega production was about 3000 cars in 10 years, 1954/1964. A big part are still here. Several engines were available, factory engines, British and Swedish engines, and US V8 Chrysler engines for their exclusive models. These cars are praised by many collectors and cars enthousiasts all over the world, and are very expensive on the collector cars market. Some stars have owned them, Tony Curtis, Dean Martin, Fred Astaire, Ringo Starr, etc..There is a club in the US. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facel_Vega#:~:text=The%20Facel%20Vega%20marque%20was,company%20for%20the%20aviation%20industry.

Hey, Audie! I don't know of another more serious violation than sitting in the passing lane, even at the legal speed limit. Such drivers often fancy themselves as "enforcers" of the speed limit. Unfortunately, their behavior encourages lethal tailgating and has encouraged "road rage". That leads to deadly consequences and endangers everyone on the highway. Thanks! :) Jack

Such a gross generalization does injustice to all the safe American drivers out there. A minority certainly is guilty of being "entitled and stupid" as you might find in any population of drivers. Thanks! :) Jack

Great car from a great descendant of Col. Shelby. I sure wouldn't mind owning it.

A nice reminder that they weren't all long wheelbase Vista Cruisers. Very nice car, very nice to see.

Yes, history should reflect the cars that were available at the time, not just the "stars"! Thanks! :) Jack

Interesting! I had no idea that Carroll Shelby had such an honorable ancestor! That car looks great, too ... especially with that very special paint job. The horsepower race, though, seems to me to have gotten way out of hand. 650+ horsepower? Sounds very dangerous to me!

One of those things that you'd never know unless you go to such a huge and well sponsored Ford show. Too bad that show doesn't exist today! Way more horsepower than needed, and that will probably lead to the eventual death of performance cars. Thanks! :) Jack

Very nice to see! The first new car i bought was a 1963 Chevy II wagon. It was a tad different on power, though, with the 194 six. Powerglide was the only option. No radio even. The seating was a tad less fancy than in this car, to understate it a bit. And the dash was a tad simpler, too! I wouldn't have minded this set up back then!

Think how many Novas with this setup would have sold back in the day! Your Nova was well suited for its intended purpose, and it was possible to buy a new car back in the day! Today, with all the extras we didn't need or want, they are unaffordable for the masses. Thanks! :) Jack

Indeed! It is sad that one cannot buy a basic car anymore.

It's what happens when car companies ignore the needs of the public and put profit and shareholders in the prime position, in my opinion. Thanks! :) Jack

A sad state of affairs that goes far beyond just car companies these days.

Jack, a lot of the older economy type cars always seem to customize so easily. Even if it's just a touch or two, it can make them look tasty. Of course, basically good styling always helps to begin with.

Hey, Audie! So true! Often these base models are overlooked but their great advantage is that they're less expensive to buy and serve as ideal platforms for adding features the original never offered, and make it just what the owner wants. Thanks! :) Jack
